The battle between desktops and laptops has lasted for a long while now, and plenty of memes have spawned over the battle. A desktop is a bigger, bulkier computer that also requires external equipment to run, such as a monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. It has very little portability. A laptop, on the other hand, comes included with a screen, keyboard, trackpad, etc. It also has its own battery so that it can be carried around and be portable.

Generally, desktops are much more powerful than laptops. This is because desktops are much bigger and are not limited to smaller parts. Laptops have severe size limitations due to their portability. Additionally, desktops are very versatile. They can be easily customized with new parts and upgrades and you can even build one with enough experience. Unfortunately, laptops lack such customizability.

Although desktops are generally more powerful than laptops, if all you are doing is browsing the internet and running some simple programs then a more portable laptop can be more than enough. Laptops are perfect for schoolwork. However, if you consider yourself a hardcore gamer, a desktop and its more powerful hardware might be better for you. Ultimately, neither are superior to each other, and it all comes down to your individual needs.
